When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower. ~Den Heijer~
Anne Hedelius LPC
I could tell you I learned all my brilliant ideas from a textbook or in university, but attending school was only a formality. It would be more accurate to tell you I learned what I know from being a mom and the school of hard knocks.
I am the mother of a special needs child with Down syndrome. I have raised homegrown and adopted children. As a foster and adoptive parent I have parented children with ADHD, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, Reactive Attachment Disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
I've worked in a variety of medical settings as a social worker since 1993. I started volunteering in nursing homes as a teenager in 1980. My graduate training included advanced practice nursing classes in health & wellness. I am board certified in Human Services and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I am gifted in listening and helping you along your journey to change.
I am passionate about providing services as a Licensed Professional Counselor because I get to combine all of my best mom skills with my professional training. I offer you unconditional acceptance, positive regard, and belief in your ability to succeed.
People seek counseling for many reasons. Sometimes clients have specific concerns that they want to resolve, like losing weight, changing careers, relationship issues, or developing healthier habits.
